Position Overview
Essential duties include performing in our 80 member orchestra and may include performing in public schools, community engagement, and donor events. This position is expected to begin as soon as possible following an offer of employment during the 26-27 season.

The 26-27 per service guarantee is 38 services and compensation is $208.95/per service.

Performance Venues
The Fairfax Symphony is a resident company of The Center for the Arts at George Mason University and Capital One Hall in Tysons.

Process
To secure an audition time, please email FSO Personnel Manager, Cindy Crumb, at crcrumb@aol.com with your one page resume.
The FSO does not accept recorded auditions and the application deadline is June 1, 2026.

Audition Day
You should plan to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to your scheduled hour block. As soon as a warm-up room is available an individual warm-up space will be provided.

When you check-in for your audition, you will be given the repertoire list for the preliminary round. All rounds will be behind a screen and a proctor will introduce candidates by audition time. The audition committee reserves the right to dismiss anyone during any round should the candidate not meet the desired artistic level of performance. Trial weeks with the Fairfax Symphony may be required as part of the final audition process. The Fairfax Symphony does not allow the committee to provide comments. 

Eligibility Requirements
The Fairfax Symphony is an equal opportunity employer. We employ only highly qualified musicians, who are authorized to work in the United States. Fairfax Symphony employees are required to complete an I-9 and to provide corresponding documentation when they begin work, which could consist of a trial period.
