Since its inception in 1957 the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra has had dual passions — to be a leading artistic voice on the concert stage and to take its knowledge, artistry and commitment to the great arts of classical music into the community and to the young people of Fairfax County and the greater Washington area. That commitment is as strong today as ever, and finds its realization in programs for students, master classes for young musicians, free concerts around Fairfax County, pre-concert conversations with Music Director Christopher Zimmerman and much, much more.
The FSO is proud of its comprehensive education programs and its official partnership with the Fairfax County Public Schools, going into individual schools to deliver interactive learning at all levels.
